Northwestern Hospital threatened to revoke this poor woman's Power of Attorney if she wouldn't discharge her sick mother and take her home. The hospital refused to treat her. My opinion, not the hospitals. She fought it in court but ended up taking her home.
God bless Janet Bedin for being diligent and even though she couldn't win in court, she's winning in the court of public opinion.
When a hospital commits a medical error, a guardianized patient loses standing to sue for medical malpractice. When a hospital which has erred petitions for guardianship, a serious conflict of interest exists. This case should be looked at more closely.
